A 10-year-old boy was shot in his front yard in Pasadena, California on the afternoon of Feb. 14.

The shooting happened just after 3 p.m. and police said they received several calls from the Garfield Avenue and Park Street neighborhoods.

Pasadena Police Department Lt. Carolyn Gordon said police arrived soon after and found the boy with at least two gunshot wounds in critical condition. He was rushed to the hospital.

Gordon says it is unclear what happened leading up to the shooting or who shot the child. Pasadena Police are investigating the crime and urging anyone in the community with knowledge of the shooting to come forward.

Authorities are looking for a light-colored, four-door sedan and three male suspects. Gordon said no other information is available at this time.

Police later said that there was nothing to indicate that the child was the intended target of the shooter.

This neighborhood has seen violence before. Last year a woman saw her brother murdered on the same block.

“It’s hard, and opens our wounds…We as a community, we need to come together and help each other to stop this violence,” she said to ABC Eyewitness News.
