A man was arrested in Altadena on March 22 on suspicion of killing his mother and uncle.
One of the victims, Carol Brown, 67, was on a zoom call in her living room with her colleague from Pasadena City College when they noticed the attack on both of the victims.
According to a statement released by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Brown’s colleague called 911 around 2:45 PM after seeing a body being dragged across the room by a man.
When LASD deputies arrived, a man’s body was found in the home’s driveway with multiple stab wounds. He was later identified as Kenneth Preston, Brown’s brother.
Deputies continued to check inside of the property and discovered Brown’s body along with the murder weapon.
The deputies learned that one of the vehicles was missing from the property.
The suspect hit the car in the neighborhood and then walked up to the crime scene and identified himself as one of the home residents.
32-year-old Robert cotton was detained and booked for two charges of murder.
The suspect’s motive has yet to be declared.
Pasadena City College identified Brown as one of their own.
Brown worked at Pasadena City College in different departments for nearly 20 years.
